Tales from a Teenage Rito: A Touching Reunion (Din, Skully, Zelda, Komali, Vanora, TPLink, Midna)
Din gave Vanora a short bow, holding Skully on her hip so she could do so without it being terribly awkward. “It is good too meet you, General. It seems that recent events have set a rather ominous stage for our first meeting.” Din said politely, slipping into a facade that she could dip into at any time she was meeting important people. She broke eye contact with Vanora long enough to turn to Midna, grinning at her friend.
“Don’t run too far, Midna. I want to talk to you soon enough. It is simply the height of importance that I’m able to talk to you.” She said, grinning widely and obviously making a sort of joke at Midna’s appearance. “I can keep it rather short if you’re keen on doing something else.” She said with an absolute straight face and toneless voice, even though her eyes were alight with her own joke.
Finally she turned up to Zelda again, looking neutrally. “You know, Princess. Next time we’re due for something terrible to happen, I’ll try to put out a memo to do it elsewhere. The people responsible for this chose the worst possible time to interrupt a much needed vacation. Because it means after we all heal and rest, we’re still in the mindset to eliminate this threat.” She said flatly, scowling ever so slightly.
Skully didn’t like this Vanora lady. He didn’t like the way she looked at people. His stare turned into a glare, his orange orbs still fixated on her for a time. Then he made a fast glance around the room. They were still talking dumb adult business stuff. Boring. But if he could stick this out, then Mommy would play with him.
When the child falsely sensed a lull in the conversation, he thought it would be a good time to ask a question of his own, maybe deviate the conversation to something less dull. He looked at the princess and asked, “Can I still throw glitter bombs around the castle? I know I missed my birthday, but old you said I could do that for my birthday. Can I still glitter bomb everything? Can I, can I, can I?”
“No, I suppose that is all for now,” Zelda replied to Midna. And of course, it wasn’t. There were many things that weighed upon her mind, but none of which she wanted to burden anyone else with.
She paused at the Skullkid’s inquiries, unsure of how to answer. It was a rare occasion that she ever interacted with children.
“Old me…? Oh yes, you must be referring to the Zelda of Old Hyrule.” The Princess made a quick glance towards Din, as though to ensure that she was behaving correctly. “Well, I’m not quite sure what a “glitter bomb” is….but you know, the castle would look lovely for the midwinter festival if you were to make the grounds glitter. We haven’t had time to decorate after all that has happened, but you don’t have to take up the task if you don’t want to of course.”
“Indeed it is a shame that we had to meet under these circumstances,” Vanora nodded her head solemnly, “but vigilance is key in finding the culprit behind this attack. I’ll be sure to tell you any news I find on the subject, and I trust you’ll do the same.”
She took a quick survey of the room. What an odd gathering this was. An Oracle, a demonic imp, the Hero of Ordon, the Twilight Queen, a Rito, and the Princess. Her Highness certainly had a wide variety of acquaintances…
“Princess, unless you need me for something else, I will be out in town to search for clues as to who committed this heinous act.” The general bowed and made her exit from the room.
I look down and smooth down a few stray feathers. For some reason, whenever I find myself in a formal atmosphere, I tend to grow highly concerned about my appearance.
I haven’t been to New Hyrule in a while. If you don’t need my help at the moment, I would like some leave to fly around and get accustomed to the area before I make myself useful around here.
